Boutique compressors. Engineered for perfection.
rockruepel’s flagship product, the comp.two, is an all-valve vari-mu compressor
celebrated for its versatility and premium components. Designed with a
minimalist signal path, the comp.two uses only six components per channel:
two transformers, two coupling capacitors, and two tubes. This design ensures
unparalleled transparency and clarity in audio processing.
The comp.two’s wide parameter range makes it suitable for everything from
subtle dynamic control to aggressive compression. Its attack times range from
as fast as 600 microseconds to 70 milliseconds, and release times vary from
200 milliseconds to 4 seconds, allowing for exceptional flexibility and precision.
In addition to the comp.two, rockruepel has developed other notable products e.g.
the predecessor to the comp.two, the comp.one was a 3U dynamics processor
created with a no-expense-spared approach, featuring silver/gold wire by
Mundorff throughout the entire signal path. It was limited to a production run of
just 50 units.
rockruepel’s products are highly regarded in the professional audio community,
with users including Paul Callagher, Russell Elevado, Luca Pretolesi, Max Dingel,
Paul Stacey, and Fab Dupont. The company’s commitment to handcrafted
excellence and boutique-quality craftsmanship has earned it a reputation as
a trusted partner for discerning audio professionals.
The sound of soldering @ rockruepel
At rockruepel’s sound manufacture in Düsseldorf, Oliver Gregor leads a team of
passionate engineers who develop, design, and build world-class compressors
for the music industry. Oliver’s journey began as a tech-savvy child who loved
repairing electronics. Over time, his curiosity evolved into a deep expertise in
crafting high-end audio equipment that elevates music to a professional level.
rockruepel is more than a manufacturer; it’s a celebration of craftsmanship,
precision, and innovation. By combining technical excellence with artistic
intuition, the company creates audio tools that help musicians and engineers
realize their creative visions.
Oliver’s current setup includes Weller models like the WS81, WMD3, and WT2M
stations, along with soldering tools such as the WSP80 and desoldering iron
DSX80. These tools support the meticulous soldering required to assemble and
repair the internal components of rockruepel’s compressors.
“As a sound engineer, you have to solder –
especially at the start of your career.
I got in touch with Weller soldering
irons early on, and now my workshop
is equipped with several Weller stations
that have been running for years.
They’re reliable, and I can always find
spare parts at a reasonable price.
