BRAINS@WELLER
Ralf Zerweck
The Brain behind Weller’s
intelligent tips & tools
Ralf Zerweck, most recently Director Global R&D at Weller Tools, has over
34 years of experience and expertise in the research and development of
soldering equipment. He took his well-deserved retirement at the end of
2024, but until recently he was still busy passing on his extensive knowledge
and experience to the next generation of R&D engineers, customers and
end users. Time to tell his personal story and get to know the mind behind …
Over the post 34 years Ralf Zerweck has become
the innovation brain at Weller Tools, because he really
enjoys the creative things. Working on the cutting
edge of product design, thinking about new
technologies, experimenting with new ideas, and
coming up with practical solutions. For him, the best
part of the job is to be part of the transformation
of a concept from an idea to a functional tool in
the hands of users. His personal success factor is a
combination of deep technical expertise, continuous
learning, and also looking at completely different
products to see what they do. In a company like
Weller Tools, where precision and performance are
key, you also need to understand the market, and
customer needs to anticipate where innovation can
make a real difference.
Working in R&D at Weller Tools is special to him
because it combines innovation with practical
problem solving to develop high performance tools
that professionals worldwide rely on. What makes it
truly unique for him is the close collaboration between
engineers, designers, and end-users. The constant
push to improve both precision and efficiency, along
with the opportunity to explore new materials and
techniques, makes each project both challenging
and rewarding.
