the WXsmart’s versatility after a live demo. Initially
focused on budget solutions, the user ultimately
opted for WXsmart units after witnessing its ability
to handle both micro and large component
soldering with ease. The real clincher was the
QR code feature for on-demand parameter
changes, which won over the entire team.
Memorable travels with the WXsmart trolley
One of Weller’s more charming marketing tactics
has been the WXsmart trolley’s “travel diary.”
This idea originated as a lighthearted challenge
between colleagues to photograph the trolley at
famous landmarks in Southern Europe. Since then,
the trolley has been showcased in unique locations
worldwide, from the Colosseum in Rome to the Bom
Jesus Cathedral in Braga, Portugal. The trolley has
become a conversation piece, capturing the
curiosity of users and spectators alike.
One of the most memorable pieces of feedback
came from a customer who claimed, “Your worst
competitor is Weller itself,” referencing their 30-yearold Weller WMD3 that still functioned flawlessly.
After experiencing the benefits of a newer Weller
rework set, the customer upgraded, demonstrating
the enduring trust in Weller’s quality and innovation.
Luca Conte wants to face every soldering
challenge in his area
Rework applications, especially desoldering,
are some of the most satisfying challenges
Weller encounters. Weller’s tools, including the
WQB4000SOPS, have enabled technicians to
tackle intricate tasks like removing and resoldering
micro BGAs. Another notable achievement was
replacing a bulky 300W soldering iron with the
smaller, more efficient WXUP, showcasing Weller’s
ability to streamline the soldering process.
With roots in Weller dating back to his early career,
Weller’s sales manager for Southern Europe has
dedicated years to mastering the art and science
of soldering, thanks to mentors and hands-on
experience with end users. Now certified as an IPC
Specialist, he reflects on how Weller’s dedication to
technical education has shaped his career.
What’s next for Weller?
Weller’s R&D team is just beginning to explore the
potential of the WXsmart platform. While the next
steps remain under wraps, exciting developments
are on the horizon. As Weller continues to push
boundaries, it’s clear that the company remains
committed to advancing the soldering industry in Italy
and beyond.
“I definitely had the wow effect! Just by looking at this cool and smart
demo box that was given to me by our product manager. When I picked
it up, I immediately realised its power because it‘s not as light as an
empty paper box - like some competitors‘ soldering machines. I was
shocked by its colour touch screen and tools, as well as its wide menu,
which looks like a tablet or a smartphone and is as easy to use.
I couldn‘t wait to show it to my customers and I‘m still so proud when
I see the smiles on their faces as they discover its features.”
