“Seeing people from all ages getting excited about woodburning
and soldering and having fun is just amazing and make our Solder
Squad Events so special. We are planning to further build our
community and create a platform for the end-consumer.
Why community building
is so important in soldering
Soldering is not like any other DIY segment. Not
many people do know how to solder or how many
applications soldering covers. It’s not only about
repairing things through soldering but also
creating something new. The connect,
exchange, get inspired but also a platform
for people to get to know soldering for the
first time and have a guide at hand.
Communities like the Solder Squad are valuable for
gathering VoC for new products. Staying close to
end-users during product development helps Weller
create market-needed products and build strong
customer relationships. As a leading soldering tools
producer, Weller supports end-users by sharing
expertise, providing inspiration, and offering support
through these communities.
Create. Follow. Inspire.
Weller‘s professional soldering tools are designed
for daily, 24/7 use in production, laboratory or
professional applications for high quality, accurate
soldering. As a result, they have to meet many
different specifications, such as temperature
accuracy and stability, the fastest heat-up
times, ESD safety or compatibility with other
stations. In addition, Weller has developed the red
consumer brand for professional tradesmen, semiprofessionals, ambitious DIY enthusiasts, students
and beginners. It is designed for everyday use on
more demanding soldering jobs, for quick and short
applications, or for occasional use.
Solder Squad Events
Weller’s Solder Squad events are created for an
exclusive group of tinkerers, innovators, creators,
do’ers, fixers, and makers to come to solder, celebrate
and showcase their soldering projects. In 2024 Weller
has started to support some events at DIY-customers
in Europe. That was a great opportunity to gain some
insights about possible future events. The first Weller
end-consumer event was conducted at one of the
biggest DIY market in Germany during Easter time.
At this two-days event people could participate
in hands-on sessions without any registration. So
partcipants at all ages were doing electrical soldering
or woodburning there. It was great to see how much
fun everyone had and how many people were inspired
to solder more often.

“Our goal is to grow the Weller brand from pure soldering to be
the perfect DIY companion, while still improving and innovating
in the soldering market! Weller is a company that is driven by
passion internally and externally. Communities provide us with a
lot of important info, give us ideas to drive the business forward,
keep us on our toes to innovate and make a difference. Also,
having a lot of people sharing the same passion is just great!”
