“I’d recommend starting with
Weller’s interchangeable
Magnastat Tips.”
Ingo Günther
“They’re really practical: you can use a very fine tip
for precise PCB work and then switch to a broader
one when soldering cables. That flexibility makes
learning much easier. And I’d also recommend using
a helping hand tool to hold the wires in place –
it saves you so much frustration when you’re just
starting out.
If I could wish for one tool to improve my personal
soldering experience, it would definitely be a desoldering station. I recently tried one and it blew me
away. I was able to desolder three or four ICs within
just a few seconds. The speed and precision were
incredible. For me, that’s the dream tool because it
makes complex tasks so much smoother and more
enjoyable.
One project I’m particularly proud of is something
I built at work called the ‘Screeny.’ It’s a small display
with 70 LEDs that can show a running text message.
What made it truly special for me was turning it into
a Christmas ornament.”
