When traditional craftsmanship meets modern technology, something truly special
happens. This dialogue brings together two passionate model makers whose
approaches could hardly be more different – and yet, their fascination for detail,
precision, and the art of soldering unites them.
We brought Helmut Schmid (89) and Valentin Bosch (17) together and visited them
later on in their workshops – two spaces that could hardly be more different. Helmut
Schmid’s is filled with the scent of wood and metal, the shelves lined with materials
gathered over decades. Valentin Bosch’s is dominated by the quiet hum of a 3D
printer and the glow of computer screens.
