From basement workshop to global icon
80 years of precision, passion, and progress
To symbolize this historic moment, we reflect
on the journey from the hands of our founders who shaped the future with grit and
purpose, to today’s young technicians

It all began in the 1920s, when a young
Carl E. Weller, driven by curiosity and craftsmanship, set out to repair radios in a small
basement workshop in Pennsylvania. His
impatience with slow-heating soldering irons
led to a breakthrough – the invention of the
world’s first soldering gun. What started as
a clever solution soon became a movement.
1946 after the war, Carl and his brothers
founded Weller Manufacturing Company,
transforming the way people worked with
electronics. From Easton to Besigheim, from
Puerto Rico to Canada and England, Weller
expanded across continents – guided by
innovation, quality, and human ingenuity.
By the late 1960s, Weller had become
the global benchmark in precision hand
soldering. Eight decades later, that same
pioneering spirit continues to inspire – connecting generations, empowering makers,
and shaping the future of soldering, one joint
at a time.
Weller Magnastat – a symbol of temperature controlled
soldering. From these early patents, Weller went on to
revolutionize temperature-controlled hand soldering
worldwide.
