#Women @Weller
Sonja Gabler, Senior Marketing Communication
Manager Brand & Digital at Weller Tools in Besigheim,
Germany
Started at Apex Tool Group: August 2010
“My professional journey began with an apprenticeship in industrial business – but I quickly discovered
that marketing was my true passion. Early on, I managed European trade shows and created multilingual
manuals and catalogues for Cooper Tools, where
I already enjoyed combining technical detail with
creative communication.
To deepen my skills, I studied business administration
and worked at Siemens in Munich, where I shifted
into digital communication. At Weller, I’ve held both
European and global roles. Adapting communication
strategies across cultures is a challenge I’ve come
to appreciate. I’ve always valued the freedom to
innovate, question established paths, and drive
change – even when it meant taking the harder road.
Honesty and consistency are non-negotiable for me.
Today, I’m proud of what we’ve built. Our digital
platform is one of the most advanced in the group –
thanks to continuous optimization, technical depth,
and foresight. You need to truly know your products
and tools to build something that lasts.
As a woman making career in tech, I’ve seen things
change over 30 years. I was once told that being
a mother didn’t fit a leadership role. But when I
returned to Weller after freelancing, I chose a
permanent role because I was offered flexibility and
trust – including remote work before it was standard.
That balance allowed me to grow.
Now I’m focused on expanding our digital landscape,
especially in areas like AI. It’s an exciting but complex
journey, where innovation must go hand in hand with
responsibility and compliance – especially in a
global context.”
“If I could give one message to young
women considering a technical or industrial
path, it would be this: love what you do.
Stay curious, keep learning – even if you
can’t apply that knowledge immediately.
It will shape you, and that growth is invaluable. Your path doesn’t have to be straight.
It just has to be yours.”
